Sunday Chronicle Original Canvas

This is a very special piece from Melan's childhood. Her dad is a local playwright and was a huge fan of the San Francisco Chronicle. When Melan was a kid, Sunday mornings would include donuts, and the newspaper. Melan loved reading The Datebook aka "the pink pages" to see the Little Man rating system for local shows and movies. The Little Man rating system  from clapping out of his seat (go see the show!) to an empty seat (don't even bother). As a kid Melan loved the little man because she didn't have to read the articles. All she had to do is see what the little man was doing. If the little man was applauding like in this painting, she would ask her dad to take her to see the show and often times they would go see shows together. The painting is celebrating a lifetime of theatre in San Francisco, memories of good treats, and the memories made with a dad and his daughter.
